JOIN ME NEXT WEEK IN SCOTLAND?, “FREEDOM!”
In a few days, I leave for Scotland to provide eight power-packed days of ministry. How does one prepare for such an adventure? Over the years, I’ve watched Braveheart about a million times, but I definitely need more research than that to prepare for a ministry trip to Scotland. I live in Highlands, NC., and our local high school mascot is a Highlander in a kilt. That’s not really preparation either. I’ve studied a historic Hebrides revival of 1949 led by Duncan Campbell, but I will need more than that to be effective ministering to Scots.
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be writing blogs intended to give you a sense of what it is like to walk the streets of Dundee, share the gospel with people in cafés, preach in the Church of Scotland, and declare truth in her school rooms. Will you pray for me as I encourage a populous overwhelmed by depression, addiction, and many mental health issues? I will share stories and testimonies with you; of people only existing in a spiritually frigid culture who desperately want to live with profoundly deeper meaning. I will introduce you to people wanting to discover a true friendship with a warm, gracious, and merciful God.
Together we will take the spiritual temperature of people with unique life stories that need to be heard and appreciated with compassion. There will likely be the putting aside of ineffective tradition only to resurrect a new understanding of, “Christ in us the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27). There will be much said about the personal touch of the Holy Spirit, the joy found in His presence, and the clarity that abides among those surrendered to Christ. The message and power of the gospel will meet the staunch resistance of sterile religion, and the gospel will win over the hearts of the people.
Would you consider “going with me” via these upcoming blogs? Would you be open to looking beneath the surface, into the hearts of a people group longing for something more in life? Would you consider praying fervently for me as I send you reports of answered prayer? Would you join me in the single most noble endeavor on the face of the earth; the proclamation of the gospel that abruptly permeates the human heart like nothing else can?
I invite those who believe, those who are on their way to believing and need further encouragement, and those defiantly opposed to the gospel to join me and see what God will do as we sell out for Him. Our journey begins—next report…Tuesday, 03/13. Thanks for praying.
