FIVE NECESSITIES TO RAISING YOUR GAME
Is your “A” game, really your “A” game or is it really your “B” game? Has your status quo been your status quo for far too long? There is a greater efficiency and effectiveness that can be leveraged in you and through your ministry. Are you seeking to bear fruit or fruit that will last? Producing fruit that lasts is a totally different reality. We are call to provide our best in Christ. To only rely upon our own counsel to reach our potential seems a bit self-centered, doesn’t it? We are our own epicenters of advancement.
It takes a great deal of effort and focus to become adept at something. It takes even greater humility and openness to instruction to raise the impact of your personal or vocational ministry to others. When we each consider our “body of work” and our contributions to the kingdom of God, we can sometimes derive our identities from what it is that we do. When our identities come from what we do, we tend to resist change to how we do it because to do so would be messing with our identity.
You work is far too important to allow it to be limited by you through a resistance to outside counsel. You are a part of a team and team players are open to coaching and hearing from other teammates as well as contributing to the play of others. Here are some questions to ponder as you also ponder what it will take to raise the lid on your personal or vocational ministry. We can always heighten our fruitfulness as vocational and non-vocational ministers of the gospel.
We need to be wise by remaining teachable
We need to add to our learning by investing time strategically with others
We need to be innovative but biblically discerning
We need to go get guidance rather than wait on it
We need to be “we” and not “me”
…let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance— (Proverbs 1:5)
